A question frequently asked by skiers and boarders, and the answer isn’t a simple one, but we will give it a go!
If its a question of budget, then, without a doubt, the best time to go would be during one of Livigno’s ‘Skipass Free’ periods. To clarify, if you stay in an apartment for seven nights, a six-day ski pass is included, free of charge. If you prefer to stay in a hotel for a minimum stay of four nights, then each person will also receive a free ski pass commensurate with the length of stay. Next season ‘Skipass Free’ is from 26/11-24/12 2016 and again from 15/4-1/5/2017).
Although you will have to pay for your ski pass, January is, in this writer’s opinion, the best time to ski in Livigno. Package prices are low; the resort isn’t busy and moe often than not, January brings abundant snow. January is the coldest month of the winter, so wrap up warm!
As winter gives way to spring, the days lengthen, there is more sunshine and temperatures start to rise. Spring skiing can combine the best of everything – sunny days, tanned faces, spring snow conditions and in the run up to ‘Skipass Free’ in April, the slopes aren’t too busy at all.
If budget is no problem, its hard to beat a Christmas or New Year break in the mountains. Yes, the resort will be very busy, and accommodation can be pricey, but the festive atmosphere in the resort is magical.
